What We Know So Far About GTA 6?

The most anticipated video game of all time, GTA6, is finally being released! After another unfortunate delay, we'll be finally able to immerse ourselves in the gameplay on May 26th, 2026. GTA 6 looks to offer players the most detailed open-world gameplay we have seen yet in the award winning series. If Rockstar Games continues in the trend of the success that was Grand Theft Auto 5, we’re in for a serious treat!
So what do we know? It seems like the storyline is returning to the infamous Vice City, and thanks to the teaser trailer, the graphics are already looking impressive. GTA 6 will launch in May 2026 on both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. In terms of any PC release, unfortunately there isn't one, with one ex-Rockstar dev mentioning that ‘This stuff is very complicated’ when asked about a PC release date.

What’s also interesting, GTA 6 will be able to harness the extra power provided by the PS5 Pro on launch. Nothing is confirmed yet, but if Xbox doesn’t launch a competitor model, the best place to relive the Vice City action would be on the improved PS5.
In the GTA 6 trailer below, which was revealed by Rockstar on December 4th, 2023, after it was leaked online. Many jumped to social media in fear that it was a fan-made trailer until Rockstar confirmed that the 91 second trailer, in all its sun-drenched glory is legit. The story introduces Lucia, one of GTA 6’s main protagonists. The trailer shows multiple shots of Vice City beaches, bars, and even a cheeky alligator. The song used in the trailer, Tom Petty’s ‘Love is a Long Road’ teases the themes of the game, which is clear that the focus is on a couple in love on the run. A run from what? Tragedy? A crime?

We know that the game is set in the state of Leonida, which encompasses Vice City. After the 1st trailer release, Rockstar said that the area is ‘the biggest, more immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet’. It’s been 20 years since the release of the original GTA: Vice City, so we’re looking to revisit the stunning locations which made the game so popular. Check out Trailer 2 above for further gameplay and cutscenes - we're definitely in for a ride!
GTA 6 will be an important release, not just for the Rockstar Games, but the whole gaming industry as a whole. Analysts are saying that the game is likely to generate more than 1$ billion in pre-orders alone, hitting 3.2$ billion in total revenue within 12 months, which is roughly double what Grand Theft Auto 5 achieved in the same time period. They’re also considering raising the base price of the game that we’ve become accustomed to, from around $70, to between $80 to $100.
We hope that Rockstar Games will be on track and the game release doesn’t befall further dreaded pushbacks that the industry is known for. Most important question is, are you pulling a sicky on release day to play it?
