What Do We Know About the iPhone 17 So Far?

The anticipation for the newest Apple iPhone is already through the roof, even with its expected debut months away in September. While Apple is keeping official details tightly under wraps, leaks and rumors are already swirling. Here's what we know so far!

Design and Display 

Apple is rumoured to replace the ‘Plus’ model to a new, ultra-thin variant named the ‘iPhone 17 Air’. This new model will feature a 6.6 inch OLED ProMotion display with an impressive thickness of only 5mm. 

Some leaked images suggest that the iPhone could be undergoing a major design change, moving away from the iPhone 16’s style. At least one of the images shows a horizontal, pill-shaped camera bump, similar to that of the Google’s Pixel series.

Another display feature everyone is excited about is the ProMotion technology. This will be made available to all models, unlike previously, where it was only on the iPhone Pro lines. 

Camera Enhancements 

There’s strong speculation that the entire iPhone 17 lineup will come with a 24MP front-facing camera, which would be a huge upgrade, doubling the current resolution. On top of that, the Pro Max model might feature a 48MP telephoto lens, taking its camera capabilities to the next level.

Performance and Hardware

The iPhone 17 Pro models are supposedly getting a bump on RAM, from 8GP to 12GB, to handle more advanced AI features and applications. On top of that, they could be powered by the new A19 or A19 Pro processors, taking smartphone performance to new heights.

To manage the heat generated from these advanced applications, features and tasks, the iPhone 17 Max is expected to have inbuilt advanced cooling technology. This first for Apple will ensure high performance at all times without the smartphone overheating. 

Connectivity and Other Features

Reportedly, Apple have been quietly working on their own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip for years, likely to reduce their reliance on third-party suppliers. If that's the case, the iPhone 17 series will debut this tech. 

Another exciting rumor, especially for those prone to accidents, is that the iPhone 17’s display could feature a super-hard anti-reflective layer. Could this be the end of cracked screens? We’ll have to wait and see!
